Template for lawyer review

This is a starter document, not legal advice and not a claim that VeloIQ is compliant. It describes what the product does today and flags gaps a lawyer should confirm before you rely on it. The contact address is hello@veloiqapp.com.

Who this is for

VeloIQ is a softball training app for parents, guardians, and coaches. An account is created as a parent or a coach. Athletes are names on clips. The product does not create a separate child login, does not ask for a date of birth, and does not run an age gate.

Clips are often of minors. A lawyer needs to review this notice, and the product, against COPPA and any state law that covers video of children before anyone treats VeloIQ as compliant. Verifiable parental consent is not built into the signup flow today.

What the app stores

From the current product, an account can hold:

  • Email, display name, and role (parent or coach). Sign-in is email and password, or Google.
  • Athlete names typed by the account holder.
  • Video clips of pitching, catching, and hitting, plus the file in storage.
  • AI analysis of those clips: a summary, frame-by-frame notes, and checkpoint ratings. Pitching uses arm angle, release point, and glove side. Catching uses stance and receiving. Hitting uses bat path, contact point, and hip rotation.
  • Coach feedback pinned to a timestamp, including optional voice notes and drawings on a frame.
  • Training plans, drill checkoffs, goals, and a sharing flag for an athlete.
  • Review requests and messages between a family and a coach.
  • Team and roster records, and invite emails sent to connect a coach.

How it is used

Clips are analyzed so a coach can confirm one priority. That priority is turned into a 7-day practice plan. Families can compare two scored clips in a before-and-after report. Video frames are sent to an AI service to produce the analysis and plan drafts. Coaches the family connects can see the athletes and clips shared with them.

The app is not built to sell personal information or to run advertising profiles. Confirm that with a lawyer against the actual hosting and vendor contracts.

Who processes it

Accounts, the database, and video files run on Supabase. The app is hosted with Lovable, which also provides the AI gateway used for clip analysis and plan drafts, and sends transactional email such as invites and password resets. A lawyer should confirm this subprocessor list, where data is stored, and whether data processing terms are in place.

Parental consent and youth video

The intended practice is that a parent or guardian holds the family account and only uploads video they have permission to share, including video of their own child. The product does not currently collect a signed consent, verify the adult's identity, or record that a parent agreed to a coach viewing the video.

Do not describe VeloIQ as COPPA-compliant until that review is done and any missing consent step is actually in the product.

Retention

There is no automatic deletion schedule in the product. Clips, scores, notes, and goals stay until someone deletes them. The owner needs to set a retention period — for example, how long video of a minor is kept after an account goes quiet — and a lawyer needs to approve it. Nothing in the app enforces a time limit today.

Export, deletion, and requests

On an athlete's page, the account holder can download a JSON file of that athlete's clips, coach notes, goals, and review requests, and can permanently delete that athlete's clips, video files, AI scores, coach notes, review requests, goals, and sharing settings. That button does not delete training plans, and it does not delete the login itself.

To ask for a full account deletion, a copy of data the in-app export does not cover, or a correction, email hello@veloiqapp.com. Say the account email and, if it is about a child, the athlete name. This address is a placeholder until the owner confirms a monitored inbox and a response time. A lawyer should set that time. The product does not yet track these requests inside the app.
